Rebel heart is a song inspired by events that have transpired throughout my life. From my perspective as a gay man in the lgbtqia+ community and also coming from a country that is completely and strongly against homosexuality, and managing to have broken out of a dreadful society infested with hate, injustice, and inequality, into a new one that has accepted me with open arms and reminded me that it is okay to ‘BE’. To love me for the way I was created.

I wrote this song in appreciation to all those who have sacrificed by putting blood, sweat, and tears into rebelliously standing for and fighting relentlessly for these freedoms that people like me can enjoy in this modern day. There is no greater feeling than to be Free to express oneself. A lot of people perished in the process of fighting for the freedom to be seen as human too regardless of finding love and attraction in a person of the same sex. “Sacrifice will not go unsatisfied.”

Certainly, this sentiment has sparked a flame within me to carry on and continue the work that the ones before us have started because even though we are winning, there is a lot more work still to be done. So this song calls to and fuels the flames that are burning within every other person who is standing for what they believe in to keep on running with it! These are what I call 'Rebel Hearts'. I endeavor to let them know that they should keep doing what they are doing to the best of their abilities and not allow themselves to be told otherwise because that is how they leave their mark on the timeline of humanity and change the world to make it a better place for those who are currently existing in It and also those who are yet to come. “Rebel Heart make history, leave your mark, a way for you and me.”
